"A Truce And Hope" — Gaza Ceasefire On 18 International Front Pages

PARIS — "There's a deal," "The truce," "A light"... A sense of general relief dominate the front pages of international newspapers following the announcement that Israel and Hamas agreed on a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal after 15 months of war.

The agreement is set to come into effect on Sunday, so long as it is approved by the Israeli cabinet. Several dailies features photographs of celebrations from both sides, with hope on the Gazan side that the deal will end the fighting and on the Israel side, that the hostages held by Hamas since Oct. 7, 2023, will finally be released.

ISRAEL — Yedioth Ahronoth


"There's a deal," writesTel-Aviv-based Yedioth Ahronoth in a special issue, with photographs of the hostages' relatives celebrating.

Palestinian Arabic-language daily Al-Quds, which is based in Jerusalem, reports on Palestinians who were killed in Israeli strikes as the ceasefire deal was being announced.

SAUDI ARABIA — Asharq al-Awsat


Arabic international newspaper Asharq al-Awsat chooses to title that Israel and Hamas "welcome" U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, set to enter the White House on Jan. 20, with a "swap deal."

UAE — Khaleej Times


Dubai-based daily Khaleej Times features a testimony from Palestinian expats in the UAE, who say they see the deal as a "glimmer of hope amid a lot of heatbreak."

Egyptian daily Al-Shorouk reports on the prisoner deal expected to be implemented Sunday after the ceasefire agreement is signed.
